Getting Logitech mice to work correctly under Mac OS X has not always been a pleasure, to say the least. Early drivers for the MX Revolution were basically broken, some even interfered with other software. Try using the MX’s scroll wheel in the property HUD in XCode. Beachball all the way.
It took several minor and major driver refreshes to finally get everything right. Fortunately, the current drivers work flawlessly with my MX Revolution, which is a truly lovely and highly useable mouse.
The only thing that occasionally bugs me is that, after waking my Mac from sleep, the scroll and sometimes the mouse pointer speed have somehow lost their custom setting. Scrolling through a long web page takes much longer, and flicking the wheel in free-spin mode, which usually zaps through a long page v-e-r-y fast, now barely does anything.
But there’s a simple solution to this annoyance: unplug the wireless USB receiver and stick it back in. Everything should be back to normal. It seems sleep mode sometimes leaves the MX’s drivers in a somewhat undefined state, but re-plugging the receiver resets the driver and you should be good to go.

I recently bought a Logitech MX Revolution after my MX 510 died on me. I installed the Logitech Control Center even though I have read some horrible stories about the driver doing some weird stuff on some systems, fortunately everything worked fine.
After fiddling around with some settings and configuring various applications the LCC gets quite annoying as it assumes that you always want Logitech’s default settings for the buttons instead of your own settings.
I eventually uninstalled the LCC and installed SteerMouse instead which is exactly what the LCC should be like and can be used to configure all buttons of this wonderful mouse.
Everyone who has problems with Logitech’s software or is just annoyed by it should really have a look at it.
