On October 23rd Cocoatech finally released the long-awaited version 5 of its Finder replacement, Path Finder. I’ve been using Path Finder for quite some time now and I think it’s one of the best file managers for Mac OS X. Still, I’ve been missing some things, such as integration of the Finder’s sidebar and Smart Folders. Fortunately, other people were missing these features too, thus they have been implemented in Path Finder 5.
Apart from that particular improvement, several other features have been added:
- Dual pane file browser
- CoverFlow view in list, column and icon view and in the bottom pane
- New Sidebar and a Drop Stack redesign
- Cut & Paste files in the browser
- New image editor
- Numerous fixes and improvements
Path Finder 5 is a paid upgrade to owners of a previous version. The upgrade is available for $19.95, the full version costs $39.95.
